As North America’s oldest Chinatown and an important center for Chinese culture, this historic area of San Francisco offers an old school, homey vibe. For a long time in San Francisco, the Chinatown area was the only place that residents of Chinese descent could live, and the community had to fight to keep there place there and furthermore live and contribute to the city as a whole. As you enter through the famous Dragon Gate at Grant and Stockton, you’ll be met by gift shops, tourist, food markets, and fantastic Chinese food restaurants. It’s a great place to go if you’re hungry with so many classic kitchens (and quite a few new contemporary restaurants!) you’ll want to experience all the sizzle, the steam and the comfort of this celebrated cultural dining district. There are also near by parks and playgrounds and cultural landmarks to explore.
