Mexicaltzingo has a lot of history since is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city and is located very near the city center. This place is where some traditional events take part, like the pitayas vending (a cactus fruit only available in spring season), and also important recitals and concerts that take place at Foro Independencia, an independent forum with a laidback vibe, and the Teatro Diana, a popular theater in this neighborhood which is also one of the main spots the “FICG” (Guadalajara’s International Film festival) takes place and where international and national films are screened. Another popular attraction here is the municipal market of Mexicaltzingo, a well-known market to find fresh and local edibles and also a great place to have lunch or breakfast.
