Relaxing, beautiful parks and beaches for your yoga practice

Yoga is a great spiritual practice and one of the best ways to wind down. But you don’t have to confine your practice to a studio or gym. With all of the natural beauty in Vancouver, it’s no wonder it is one of the most popular cities for outdoor yoga. So grab a blanket or mat and Downward Dog at these serene and stunning Vancouver parks and beaches.

Amazing Walden Vibes

Jericho Park is a grassy, wide-open park with wildlife and lush scenery that will pull you right out of the busy city. With all this natural beauty, you’ll feel like you are in a remote scene right out of Thoreau’s Walden. Find a spot near the duck pond to strike a Tree Pose or pick a spot near the beach and let the most beautiful sunsets be your backdrop.

Royal Vibes

You can find your center in a regal, charming, well-manicured park. Queen Elizabeth Park is a peaceful, natural retreat located right in the heart of Vancouver. This 130-acre park is especially spectacular during autumn, with fall reds, oranges, yellows, and greens surrounding this vast city escape. You can also pick a spot fit for royalty, near the floral garden and let the soft, sweet smells of nature enhance your yoga session.

Perfect Sunset Vibes

Sunset Beach Park is a quiet beach-side park that has a beautiful view of the water without sitting on the actual beach. Grab your leggings and a camera and get to this secluded grassy spot enhanced by the fresh smell of the ocean. If you get there before sunset, find a log after your yoga session and capture an unmissable memory.

Where the Wild Things Are Vibes

Larger than the iconic Central Park in NYC. And Stanley Park is one of the largest, most popular parks in Vancouver. It’s also home to a beautiful rose garden (where you can unroll your yoga man), plenty of cute wildlife in the Lost Lagoon, and peaceful boats coming in and out of the harbor. With so many options, there is a perfect spot for every yogi at this park.

Group Stretch Vibes

Kitsilano Beach is the perfect place to unwind and have your own private yoga session. Pick your favorite spot and just relax with the therapeutic sounds of the waves. The fresh air is clean and crisp, and when you take deep breaths of the fresh air, you will feel completely at peace. There are also many free group yoga sessions at Kits beach such as the one from Mat Collective that you can join, so keep a lookout for upcoming events!

Boho and Bare-Skinned Vibes

Wreck Beach is a trendy yoga destination during the summer due to its liberating vibes and one-of-a-kind beauty. This beach clothing optional! It’s also where yoga enthusiasts hold freewheeling sessions while enjoying the summer sun. However, if you are looking for a more clothed yoga session, it may be best to look to other locations or visit in the less-populated (colder!) fall season.
