“Caffè” is a loose term when referring to an old school “Italian caffè”. It’s almost always so much more than coffee. It’s definitely what you might expect on many levels but it’s also a bar and also a deli of sorts as well as a restaurant, pastry shop and often times a retail/grocery store. These were places that Italian immigrants created largely for themselves. They would gathered to immerse themselves in the language, culture and flavours of “home”. Caffè di Beppe is an homage to the memory of these old haunts.
