Where to find the best cool treats to keep you cool this hot summer

Don’t let the warm weather keep you inside! On the next ultra hot day, grab a friend or two and enjoy some of the best ice creams and frozen pops Guadalajara has to offer. From frosty bingsu to mochi, to raspados to nieves de garrafa, find some of Guadalajara's best chilly treats at these essential spots.

Nieves de Garrafa Chapalita

Located in Tlaquepaque center, Nieves Chapalita will blow your mind with the different and unique flavors they sell. From the basic vanilla, chocolate, and their derivatives, to tequila, margarita, or even lemon pie flavors, Nieves Chapalita makes their ice cream traditionally using an antique way of preparation, without any preservatives and almost all-natural flavors. This kind of ice cream is called “nieves de garrafa”. Located in the center of a very touristy area of the city, you may have to wait in line, but let me tell you that it’s worth the wait.

Helados Coreanos Bingsu

Recently, Korean food has become quite popular, and Helados Coreanos Bingsu is a place where you can find some of the best bingsu, a popular Korean shaved ice dessert with sweet toppings such as chopped fruit, small cheesecake pieces or tiramisu. It’s served in a big bowl and is perfect for sharing with friends or with a loved one (trust us, its size is pretty big!). The toppings, mixed with finely shaved ice and regular ice cream, are the perfect combination if you’re looking for new textures and exquisite flavors to taste.

Helados La Italiana

Helados La Italiana is located just a few blocks south of

Parque Amarillo. Here you can find delicious and budget-friendly ice cream with a super unique milkshake texture. And what a variety of flavors! Sometimes you’ll have to wait in the line to get one “italiana”, but once you order, your treat will be delivered quickly. Our pro tip? Take your milkshake to go and wander into Parque Amarillo.

Momotabi Mochi Market

Mochi is a beloved Japanese dessert made with ice cream and covered with rice dough. Momotabi Mochi Market, a super funky place with hip Japanese decor, is one of the few places that sell it. Their mochi can be ordered in a variety of flavors (and colors!), and they’re served with toppings of your choice. Think sweet gummies, chocolate chips or roasted marshmallows! Be sure to check out their other 'non-mochi' options as well. All equally delicious to be enjoyed on their beautiful terrace.

Raspados Jalisco

Since 1924, Raspados Jalisco has sold traditional shaved ice cream covered with syrup with almost any flavor you could desire. This place is the perfect spot to enjoy a refreshing treat before or after strolling around the Museo Cabañas area of Guadalajara’s city center.
