Not only are these hikes near by with astounding views, they feature an amazing diversity of terrain, including beaches with coastal bluffs, Redwood grooves, wetlands, mountains, waterfalls, and much more. Most of these hikes are a fairly easy and 2 to 3 miles long, and some are even shorter and can be completed in 1 hour or so.

Tilden Regional Park

As one of the East Bay Regional Park District’s “OG” parks, Tilden occupies a special place in the heart of many Berkeley residents, a symbol of the city’s accessibility to nature and commitment to environmental sustainability. Tilden Park is open during the Covid-19 pandemic with some restrictions.

There are many things to do include picnic areas, golf course, play ground, botanical garden, steam train, farm, and swimming in Lake Anza. There are many hiking trails and dog-friendly areas in the park.

You can easily get to Tilden by AC Transic or car.

Tilden was named for Charles Lee Tilden, first president of the Park District Board of Directors.

Mount Diablo is a dominant topographic feature in northern California. It was established in 1851 as the initial point of the Mount Diablo Base Line and Meridian for land surveys spanning two-thirds of California and all of Nevada. The mountain’s summit boasts spectacular panoramic views.

You can hike to the summit of Mount Diablo and admire the epic view. It’s a moderately difficult 5.9 hike. Takes about 3.5 hours at a casual pace.
