Since Portland’s foundation in 1851, there’s been no shortage of historically haunted places with spooky vibes to discover! Here’s your insider guide to the local chills and thrills that you’ll never forget!  So hold onto someone’s hand and dare to explore the spooky vibes of the Rose City!

Forest Witch Vibes

Who would have guessed the center of urban Portland’s Forest Park has a centuries old stone structure, aptly named the “Witch’s Castle?” This moss-covered Witch’s Castle has a childhood fairy tale charm with a distinctly eerie vibe you actually have to hike to. Grab your gear and go!

Channel Your ESP Vibe

Locals only haunted spaces like the Psychic Bar are tucked away in a nondescript North Portland neighborhood. Indoor, outdoor seating and a creative drink menu complemented with food from Prey + Tell. Channel your inner fortune teller to the nightly tunes of local musicians!

Hard Rock and Roll Paranormal Vibes

During the age of Prohibition, the White Eagle had a history of hosting unfortunate men who were suddenly shanghaied into a life overseas. Watch out for a long-deceased ghost named ‘Sam’ whose picture is not only placed above the bar, but he’ll prank you by tugging on your shirt!

Swindled Spirits Vibe

Portland’s history of ‘shanghaiing’ men to a life at sea after a night of drunken debauchery is well documented. At the Portland Shanghai Tunnels you can venture into their paths and through the dank underground tunnels under the everyday streets of Portland with very ‘sketchy’ cell phone reception. Do you dare?

Working Class Ghosts

Just north of Portland proper stands the Kenton Station Hotel,  a working-class community complete with centuries old working-class ghosts. Featured on the History Channel, Kenton Hotel has legit resident spooks like “Mysterious Billy,” the basement ghost-boxer who entertained many prominent city guests and today will occasionally tip over a chair or two.

Cemetery in the City Vibe

No haunted guide is complete without including a cemetery!  One of the most haunted Portland cemeteries is located across from a busy strip mall in SE Portland. Lone Fir Cemetery is a burial site for nearby asylum patients and Chinese immigrants. Naturally, it would it’s a hotspot for curiously superstitious sightseers! The locals have been hosting annual Halloween pilgrimages to this sacred yet supernatural spot for years.

Haunted Mansion Meets Paranormal Portland
