Sweet, savory, sticky, or spicy, Portland has no shortage of delectable BBQ joints that are guaranteed to tempt your tastebuds! Here’s our ‘saucy sampler’ of BBQ styles to check out in the Rose City!
Holy Trinity Barbecue
Texas-style brisket, ribs, and sausages are smoked over Oregon White Oak outside of Chef Kyle’s ‘un-mis-steak-able’ bright royal blue food cart. The Beef Ribs are ‘like brisket on a stick!’ Take a hint from Holy Trinity’s Instagram, “First come, first served. Don’t DM me, just get your ass to the cart.”
YāYā Cantonese BBQ
New to the Portland scene and causing quite the stir (pun intended), YāYā’s Chef Chin brings his unique umami-caramel, char siu sauced, crispy roasted ducks and chickens to his take-out only storefront (although you can take a seat at their new covered deck!). Line up early because this kind of Cantonese BBQ love doesn’t last long!
Bamboo Grove Hawaiian Grille
Savor Hawaiian BBQ ‘grinds’ at this colorful eatery with plenty of indoor and patio seating. Extensive menu of mains, sides, and desserts. Come for the Guava BBQ Chicken and stay for the ‘ohana’ family atmosphere.
Papi Sal’s
Located in the uber-trending CORE food-cart pod, Papi Sal’s has Puerto Rican BBQ Lechon Sandwiches that are smoked for 12 hours over cherry wood. Missing out on BBQ because…vegan? Order the Vegan Jawn and lick your fingers like everyone else!
Southland Whiskey Kitchen
A Southern-fare sanctuary nestled in stylish NW Portland. Feast on a ‘Big Plate’ of applewood smoked Carolina pulled pork and tame the heat with a sip from their impressive whiskey collection. Goose Fart Cocktail, anyone?
