There is something eerily familiar about Andersonville for first time visitors. Although the sidewalks can be teeming with pedestrians, it feels almost small town-ish. An LGBTQIA+ hub, Andersonville takes shopping small to a whole new level. Hot coffee in hand from one of the myriad coffee shops lining Clark Street, you can weave in and out of boutiques for a whole afternooon without seeing the same thing twice. Looming large near the main street a water tower adorned with a Swedish flag greets you – a reminder of the neighborhood’s Swedish roots. Perhaps you’ll be inspired to pop by the Swedish American Museum or get yourself a fika (Swedish pastry.) You’ll find yourself forgetting that you’re in one of the country’s largest cities.
