Wildcat Campground overlooks the ocean from a grassy bluff in Point Reyes National Seashore. Prepare your legs for a 6-mile hike into this rugged and secluded campground, or longer if you choose. Along the way, you’ll pass through a tapestry of grasslands, forested ridges, and sandy beaches. Pro tip: there is one route to the campground that’s bikable. Start at Five Brooks Trailhead and follow Stewart Trail for 6.7 miles to Wildcat Campground.

Mount Diablo State Park

The Marin Headlands

Of all the natural wonders of the Bay, the Marin Headlands are a true gem. Experience them in an entirely new way with a hike to Hawk Campground. The campground is a hillside retreat close to area favorites like Tennessee Beach, Rodeo Beach, and Point Bonita Lighthouse. It’s a leg-burning 2.5-miles to get there from Tennessee Valley Trailhead, but incredible views of San Francisco and the Bay await.
