Places and events that define our cities

We all love and are drawn to the old school and historic vibes our cities have to offer. Guadalajara has one of the largest historic city centers in all Mexico, making it one of the best places to appreciate the architecture of the city and the landmarks in the area. Guadalajara’s metropolitan area includes the cities of Zapopan, Tlaquepaque and Tonala, so there are many possibilities for exploring throughout the region. And don’t forget about the parks! Guadalajara has amazing large parks all around the city, so you have a wide panorama of places to enjoy during any season.

Walking through the city center there are a variety of options to explore, starting at the Parque Revolución area and then heading towards the Ex Convento del Carmen museum, an old convent that continuously has expositions of diverse national and international artists. Keep walking along Juárez Avenue and you will find the - Palacio Municipal de Guadalajara - Guadalajara’s city hall - located next to Guadalajara’s Cathedral. One of the most significant monuments in the area is the ‘Rotonda de los Jaliscienses Ilustres', which includes a series of statues of the most distinguished persons of Jalisco’s state placed in a circle in the middle of a small park.

Are you planning to go on a more easy-going stroll? Our city has options for you too. It has many large parks for you to walk to! Our largest and best known parks are the Parque Metropolitano, Bosque Los Colomos, or Parque Amarillo, but the city has many other less known but equally great public parks, like the Parque Alcalde that has its own artificial lake, or Parque Lineal Normalistas where you can exercise or just take a walk.

Tlaquepaque, Zapopan and Tonala are separate cities that make up part of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. They have their very own historic city centers, central plazas, city halls, museums and churches. There are great cultural destinations in each of these cities like the ‘MAZ contemporary art museum in Zapopan and the “Museo del Premio de la Cerámica” in Tlaquepaque, which has a big collection of curated ceramic pieces from the finest Mexican artisans or the ‘Museo Nacional de la Cerámica’ with great local ceramics inside of an architecturally fascinating building.
