The Seattle Children’s PlayGarden is a 1-acre fully fenced garden in the heart of Seattle. Our mission is to provide children of all abilities a safe, accessible and adventurous place to play.

Two Doors Down originally opened in September 2015 and is owned by Erin Nestor and Rebecca Denk, who also own The BottleNeck Lounge. Listed as one of the top burger spots in Seattle by Eater in both 2019 and 2020, the Central District location caters not only local families, but to beer fans from across the city searching for less commonly available offerings from breweries here in the Northwest. Guests linger at the bright blue counter and watch the kitchen crew at work, or enjoy seating in a cozy booth or at the bar top. The communal table is perfect for families with younger children.

In the Summer of 2020, Two Doors Down will open its second location at the corner of Second Ave. S and S. Jackson St. in historic Pioneer Square. The menu will feature the same burgers and sides as the Madison Location, free from hormones or antibiotics. The Pioneer Square location will also feature a carefully-curated selection of twenty PNW beers and ciders on draft.

Gluten free? Not a problem! We serve fantastic gluten free buns, gluten free bread, and our fryer at both locations is always gluten free! Our lauded onion rings are hand-cut and beer-battered in Vanishing Point Pale Ale from Ghostfish Brewing. A gluten free beer is available on draft as is a rotating selection of craft ciders.

We have a number of vegetarian options and all of our beef burgers can be replaced with a veggie patty at no charge. Two Doors Down also offers The Beyond Meat burger for those seeking additional plant-based patty options, and turkey patties are also available for substitution on any burger. Our beef patties contain no hormones or antibiotics and are sourced from Oregon. Painted Hills 100% Grassfed beef is also available at both locations.

Two Doors Down features an array of nonalcoholic beverages, including Crater Lake Root Beer, kombucha, Topo Chico mineral water, and ice tea. Glass pours of house wine are also available.

Two Doors Down does not accept reservations and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Orders-to-go are available by calling either location in advance. Both locations welcome guest of all ages. We strive to foster an atmosphere of inclusivity for both our staff and guests. The idea behind the cafe is to serve delicious food and great milkshakes in a 1950’s diner atmosphere. We employ some great people and we try to be a fun place for all. Meet Me at Luna Park: Luna Park was an amusement park that operated on the northern tip of Alki Point in West Seattle from 1907 until 1913.

The Discovery Park Loop Trail is a designated National Recreation Trail, 2.8 miles long with an elevation change of just 140 feet. It passes through both forest and open meadows, offers extensive views, good prospects for bird watchers, and can be hiked or jogged year-round.

Washington Park is a public park in Seattle, Washington, United States, most of which is taken up by the Washington Park Arboretum, a joint project of the University of Washington, the Seattle Parks and Recreation, and the nonprofit Arboretum Foundation.

This popular park offers extraordinary views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Explore the secrets of this northwest Seattle watershed, nine miles from downtown. Here, 220 acres of lush forest, meadows, wetlands, creeks, and beach are formed by the magic of water and time. Come take part in an education program, have a picnic, or get involved as a volunteer teacher or as part of an outdoor work party. Walk the Pipers Canyon Story Trail, play on the uniquely salmon themed play area, or touch time at the historic Piper Orchard.

In Carkeek Park, years of hard work by neighbors and volunteers have brought salmon back to Pipers Creek, restored major portions of the forest, built miles of trails, created sustainable gardens, educated visitors, and restored a unique fruit orchard. A group of dedicated forest volunteers, named the WEWOS (Weekday Workers), work every Friday morning in the Carkeek Park forests, removing invasives, planting trees and shrubs, and doing aftercare.

It’s astonishing to find, in the middle of West Seattle, as many old growth trees as you might see in a whole season of hiking at Tiger Mountain. But Schmitz Preserve Park offers exactly that! The 53.1 acre park was formed from land donated to the city between 1908 and 1912, before the area had been completely logged. The largest parcel was donated by German immigrants Ferdinand and Emma Schmitz, after whom the park is named.

There is no entry fee, and official park hours are daily, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The park offers 1.7 miles of hiking trails. Since there are no trail signs in the park you may want to print a trail map in advance. Go to www.seattle.gov/parks/search.htm, enter “Schmitz Preserve” in the search window and, when you get to the park page, click on “Hiking Trails.”

As you walk the trails be alert for a few exceptionally large conifers, and reflect that trees like these once were common throughout the Puget Sound area. Early in the season you will see the yellow hoods of skunk cabbage, along with blooms of Indian plum, salmon berry, Oregon grape, bleeding heart and trillium. You may hear the loud calls of pileated woodpeckers and flickers, and are likely to see a number of frisky squirrels. Raccoons also are present, but are mostly nocturnal. This is just a hint of the diversity of plants and animals you might see in the park. For more complete lists, check the Ecology page at the website of the Friends of Schmitz Preserve.

The Union Bay Natural Area, also known as Montlake Fill, is a public wildlife area, natural restoration laboratory, and an important habitat next to Lake Washington.

It is the second largest natural system left on the lake. Considered one of the best bird-watching sites in the city of Seattle. Over 200 different species of birds have been sighted here.

The Seattle Children’s Museum in Seattle is located on the lowest floor of the Armory at the Seattle Center. Founded in 1979 with a single exhibit, the museum currently features 18,000 sq feet of play space with 11 exhibits designed for kids 6 months to 8 years.
