Los Angeles has no shortage of homegrown coffee roasters and charming coffee shops that will lull you into a morning reverie with the smell of freshly roasted beans. Here are a few of our favorites, based on your current vibe.

Inclusive, Family Vibes

You're treated like part of the family from the moment you walk in the door at Dialog Cafe in West Hollywood. The family-owned cafe sources their beans from family-owned farms and there are plenty of vegan and gluten-free options on the food menu, along with a robust selection of organic teas. Try the honey oat cappuccino or dirty matcha latte.

Girly, Vacation Vibes

The banana leaf wallpaper and pink interiors at The Palm Coffee Bar in Burbank are reminiscent of The Beverly Hills Hotel, and stopping for cold brew or colorful iced latte feels like a brief tropical getaway. Stay on brand by pairing your drink with a delicate pink strawberry shortcake donut by Sugarbloom Bakery. There's a whole wall dedicated to an artfully curated selection of local artisan products, from headbands and sunglasses to coffee mugs and candles.

Easygoing, Minimalist Vibes

Cognoscenti Coffee has been roasting coffee in LA since 2009, with three cafe locations in Culver City and DTLA, including a roastery that's open to the public. Interior design is simple but stylish, with bare polished concrete walls and wide wooden tables, matching the straightforward coffee menu that puts the focus squarely on the beans. Mochas here are the best in LA, using bean-to-bar chocolate syrup from Twenty-Four Blackbirds Chocolates in Santa Barbara.

Beachy, Local Vibes

Just a block from the beach and Santa Monica Pier, Interstellar is a hidden gem that locals love in a very touristic neighborhood. Daniel and Angie Kim, the young Korean-American husband-and-wife team behind Interstellar, opened during the pandemic, and the coffee, roasted by Onyx Coffee Lab, is on point. Snag a seat on the patio for great people watching.
