Whether solo or partnered up, the best places for sex toys, vibrators, bondage gear and more in Oakland and Berkeley

Going to a sex store hits exactly like a trip to the candy store: bright colors, friendly interiors, and a seemingly infinite number of colorful things to put in your body. And when you’re looking for body-safe products in a welcoming environment, there are a number of awesome places that specialize in sex toys and adult sexcessories in the East Bay.

Need help picking out your sexy paraphernalia? Not only do these places have knowledgeable staff to help you find goodies that match your vibe, they’re also well organized with easy-to-peruse categories to meet all your solo or partnered up needs.

Friendly sexologist vibes

Good Vibrations - Berkeley

Good Vibrations is the friendliest place on earth. It’s staffed by knowledgeable, non-judgmental people who are a fount of knowledge and are sincerely interested in your desire (or your partner’s). They stock everything at what seems like every price point. If you’re on a budget you can get a very serviceable bullet vibe for less than $10--but if you’re feeling flush they stock a very fun, if intimidating, sybian at $2500. Almost everything is on display, so you can turn things on and see if things will turn you on, if you catch my drift.

Friendly sexologist vibes, but a little bigger!

Good Vibrations - Oakland

Is it cheating to mention Good Vibrations twice? Maybe, but it’s a classic for a reason. This location is in the beautiful historic Lakeshore neighborhood of Oakland. It’s a great place to stop by after brunch, say, Grand Lake Kitchen. It’s a little bigger than the Berkeley store, and they do stock a few different things, so they’re both worth a visit.

Community pride vibes

Feelmore

Feelmore is a place where people go to feel good. It’s also an Oakland institution that prides itself in its connection to its city. Owner Nina Joiner has made it part of Feelmore’s business model to hire local, and actively participate in the political scene that is so integral to Oakland’s identity. For example, in response to police brutality, one of Feelmore’s iconic billboards read “Our Bullets Don’t Hurt.”

Joiner is a huge part of what makes Feelmore feel like Feelmore. The store’s social media is filled with Tik Tok-style videos of them pulling a vibrator out of the fridge or strutting with a dildo to “Walk” by Saucy Santana. Joiner is incredibly proud of their work, and they should be!

The store stocks a wide variety of toys for all body parts, as well as gender-affirming accessories and bondage gear. They also carry a really cute line of merch, including stickers and sweatshirts. Feelmore’s next venture is a sex positive bar called Feelmore Social club, which is slated to open early 2022.
