“Belen’s cemetery” is now one of the most famous museums in Guadalajara. Home of the spookiest legends in the city -- one about a dead little boy supposedly afraid of the dark whose grave has seen “opened” many times. There’s even a “vampire’s” grave. Also, years ago it was the final resting place for all the patients who passed away at the Civil hospital located right next to it--so imagine how many stories this place has to tell. Belen’s Cemetery is not just spooky but also a rich architectonic jewel that the government of Jalisco continues to preserve. So take a night-guided tours and learn the most popular cemetery tales while walking through old halls and gravestones. You can schedule a reservation for the guided tours every Thursday and Friday night at their Facebook page.

 Beautiful yet spooky vibes

El Palacio de las vacas (the cow palace) is a unique and elegant old mansion. Right now, it serves as a cafeteria, where you can have a cappuccino and delicious chocolate cake in a picturesque space. But it was once a local dairy store (that’s why it got its name: “cow palace”) but also was once a school. It’s where legend says a student took her life and returned to haunt El Palacio. This October, they’ll have a guided interactive horror tour where you can walk the chilling corridors and rooms in this creepy yet beautiful mansion. You can book your tickets at their Facebook page.

Historical vibes

Everybody loves the Hospicio Cabañas Museum’s murals and art, but few people know about its spooky origin story. it was the first hospice of Guadalajara, and legend says every time one of the building’s clocks stopped working back then, a kid from the hospice died. If you visit the museum this season, don’t forget to ask the Cabañas crew about this and other spooky stories from the museum.

The “you dare” vibes

It’s an antique mansion. And La Casa de Los Perros (“the dog house”) has a name inspired by its two rooftop. It’s also where you can learn the history of journalism in Guadalajara. But people say La Casa de Los Perros was once the home of a rich man who still haunts the house. The only way to get rid of his spirit is by praying over the man’s gravestone with a Catholic rosary at midnight. According to legend, whoever dares to complete this challenge will be the next owner of the property. But apparently no one has ever completed their prayers due to all the scary sobbing they hear. Creepy!

Antique and classy vibes

This hotel is located in the center of Guadalajara, in a building that’s over 400 years old. Rumors say that strange shadows and sobs are found in the corridors of the hotel every day. Ask the receptionist or the concierge at the lobby about the ghosts of the hotel if you feel brave enough to hear the stories. And if you dare to stay in room 7 after midnight, you can hear the bathroom door oddly opening and see objects weirdly changing their positions. You can access the hotel restaurant and bar if you want to visit this mysterious place as they have an array of drinks you can enjoy with a typical Mexican meal such as pozole or fried tacos.
