Find those places near the city where you can explore and get those summer adventurous vibes you were looking for!

Are you the kind of person who’s always down for a trip out of town? Break your routine and find new experiences to boost you out of your comfort zone? If that’s you, we’ve got a few great options for a quick and adventurous trip out of town.

Lake Chapala

Chapala’s lake is the biggest in the country and draws in people traveling from far and wide. Here you can find terrace restaurants with sweeping views of the lake, funky shops and endless outdoor activities. We suggest taking a boat out to sail with family and friends and grabbing a traditional Chapala artisanal ice cream to eat along the Malecón de Chapala while browsing the craft stands where locals sell their wares. If you have time, we also recommend heading to Mezcala Island - best known for its historic site celebrating the victory of Indigenous forces over the Spaniards during the Mexican War of Independence from Spain.

Huilotán Eco-Park

Get your adventure on at Huilotán Eco-Park. Only around an hour outside the city, this place has a bit of everything, from it’s own natural pool (perfect for cleansing yourself of the summer heat!) and a camping zone for those who want to make a weekend of it. If you’re searching for a bit more wildness, head out on one of the many hiking trails and visit the Huilotán cascade near the camping area.

Tequila Town

Jalisco state's most emblematic symbol and one of the most representative things Mexico has is its tequila which is made from pure agave cultivated in the fields of Tequila’s town. Less than 1 hour away from the city, you can enjoy scenic agave landscapes while tasting a “cantarito” (a cold beverage prepared with soda, tequila, lemon, and salt) and taking lots of pictures in the colorful town. This is surely the most instagrammable place you’ll find near Guadalajara.
