West Loop Round-up

Hang out in one of Chicago's most thriving neighborhoods - the West Loop has something for everyone - from top eateries, cool hotel scenes, vibrant nightlife, and close proximity to the museums and riverwalk, you really can’t go wrong!

The West Loop or what is trending as now Fulton Market is having a moment and there’s no sign of it slowing down.  Historically a meatpacking area with old warehouses that have now been turned to elevated loft homes and corporate offices, this industrial neighborhood can stand on its own as a full-on destination. Whether that means eating at the top restaurants in the city, staying at the coolest hotels, or simply walking around and shopping, the West Loop has a lot to offer.

Grab a coffee or a matcha latte at the infamous Sawada Coffee.  Sawada Coffee means serious business – Japanese latte art master Hiroshi Sawada’s opened this cafe and it has become a favorite in Chicago.

The best part of the West Loop/ Fulton Market neighborhood is that you can litearlly eat your way around the globe in just a few blocks.  From Croatian cuisine at Rose Mary to the Alla Vita, the latest family-style Italian eatery is already making waves. Both will need to be booked months in advance because yes, they are THAT good!

Indulging in happy hours is always a good idea! Head to Trivoli Tavern where the $5 old-fashioned cocktail won’t be watered down along with a food menu that includes oysters and pigs-n-blanket for the same price! Craving Mexican food instead? Visit Chikatana to be transported to Tulum and try the delicious slow-cooked pork tacos that you can wash down with a mezcal margarita.

Since working remotely is a thing now, you’ll definitely want to check out spots with wifi, outlets, and good food. Head to The Hoxton Hotel where you can sit in the lobby with comfy seating with access to a great food menu to keep your belly happy all day long!  Not sure what to do after work? Head right upstairs to the roof to enjoy a Peruvian-inspired dinner at Cabra Cevicheria by the James Beard award-winning Chef, Stephanie Izard.

The neighborhood is perfectly situated just a short distance to the scenic Chicago riverwalk where you can not only enjoy beautiful vistas of the water while getting in your daily steps but also be inspired by the public art and monuments.  Need a little break from all the walking? Don’t worry - you’ll come across several waterfront bars and restaurants - grab a glass of wine at City Winery and sit to people (and boat) watch!
