The entrance of Portland’s Old Town Chinatown neighborhood is marked by an elaborate archway ornamented with depictions of dragons and mythical creatures and protected by two powerful, bronze lion statues on the side. Envisioned as the original downtown of the city, Old town is situated in Central Portland next to a MAX station connecting it to the rest of the city and is bordered by the Willamette River. Today, it’s known by locals for its community, the Chinatown Market, chill restaurants that serve dim sum, and it’s exciting nightlife and bars. The busy streets of this historic area of Portland are popular for sightseeing and shopping because of the many new boutiques, fun art galleries, and hotels.
